About Blooms of Narcissus

Hi! I'm Gabriele, the artist behind Blooms of Narcissus. I draw inspiration from nature all around me, whether that's my own garden, or the variety of wildlife on walks and trips around the UK. I'm based in the South West and sell at markets across the region.

When I completed my degree in Design Engineering, I thought that my career options were quite limited. I ended up not being able to find a job that aligned with my preferences, and I pivoted to data analysis which suited my mathematical background. After years of working "standard" jobs, I felt entirely burnt out and tried to rediscover the creativity that had somehow disappeared from my life. That's how I ended up back at drawing and designing products.

Sustainable By Design

It is absolutely key to consider sustainability from the very start of the design process for any product. Where do the materials come from? How are they processed? How do products get disposed of when they come to the end of their lives?

Throughout my design process, I ask myself these questions and choose the options that make sense to me like:

- stocking small batches

- using post-consumer waste recycled paper

- minimising / avoiding plastic

- minimising packaging across products and shipping

I am constantly learning (there is so much to research, try out, and experiment with) and will continue to develop my upcoming products with sustainability in mind from the start.
